The drivers will be split in two 8 car convoys to help with congestion management. Unfortunately no towing will be allowed as this will have a significant impact on maximum convoy speed and increases the risk of breakages and delays. Our current draft route includes the following key locations (with over 100 towns, settlements and stations passed on the way):
We will be undertaking a campaign to identify organisations and tour providers that would like to support our efforts and participate in the conversation. This will hopefully result in fully or partially funded:
We will also be asking the participants if there are any specific destinations that they would like to visit, however it should be noted that this is an endurance driving fundraising event and not a tourist drive, so it is likely that we will not be able to accomodate all requests.
Drivers will be shortlisted based on their experiences, capabilities and committment. Things that we will be looking for include:
Once shortlisted, 2 - 3 driving events and a bi-monthy sundowner/breakfast will be held to ensure compatability amongst the team and to build some comraderie prior to setting off. Final decision of event participation rests with event coordinator.
A set of compliance requirements are currently being drafted, for all cars that apply. All cars that are shortlisted will have to go through a compliance check with the event mechanic prior to being accepted on the course.
Please note that all cars will also become the sponsorship canvas - so participants will have to agree to have their appropriately decalled.
